Only a small percentage of South Africans have the opportunity for higher education and SCO has branches in most of these institutions. Almost all the future leaders in South Africa will pass through these schools.

SCO therefore has a unique opportunity to influence an entire generation of leadership in South Africa. The fact that our former president, Nelson Mandela, was an active member of our movement around 1940 encourages us to make the most of these opportunities.

Furthermore, in South Africa, students are generally wide open to the gospel.

For many this stage of life is a critical window in which they make choices about God. It is also a time of developing life-long values and lifestyles, when major life decisions are made, where long-term friendships are built and where skills are learnt which are vital to the future health of the church in Africa.

Student ministry in South Africa is at present a wide-open window of

opportunity that we cannot afford to miss.
