Western Cape SCO
Anam's Story
I heard about SCO when I was doing matric in 2007 back in high school (Bulumko High). I was invited to the farewell of the matriculants who were attending SCO and I was asked to sing a solo that day. I was not the only one invited to say farewell to the learners. Some of the people who were also there were from UWC and Ms Ncebakazi told us all about SCO. That is how I heard about it and I told myself at that moment that I was going to be involved with it when I study at UWC. It has always been my dream to study at the University of the Western Cape but I did not know how I was going to get hold of the application forms but that day I got the application forms from Ms Ncebakazi and I could not help myself that day, tears rolled down my face because I was happy especially when she was encouraging and advising us with wise words and told us how SCO help students on campus. If it was not for SCO I wouldn’t be where I am today. I submitted my application and within a week I was accepted to study here. I believe that I was accepted because I got those forms through the child of God and that is why it didn’t take much time for me to be accepted to study at the University of the Western Cape.
Presently, I am not involved with SCO though I want to, mainly because of university work that demands lot of my time and secondly, I am unable to attend because I am not living on campus where I could be able to attend. It would also be nice if SCO can conduct daily services that could accommodate students staying off-campus.
this is my story... Rhulani
Well….. Ever since I came to SCO I can say I have grown spiritually. I came with no friends from home, but when I came to the SCO I met a lot of people. Some today as I speak they are graduates. The fellowship I had with other brethren made me to realise that SCO is not a small thing. The activities that are taking place in a year are really making a difference because they are reaching out. The events makes us to come together like a happy family but what I would like to see in future is more events that will bring campuses together because it may happen that we have brothers from back at home and it may be easier for us to meet, it can also help people to be open minded, bring us close to such an extend that we may meet our future spouses and start a family.
I also learned that through reaching out you can win souls and that one spark of fire can reignite dying soul as they reach one, touch one, and make a difference in life.
I have learnt that God can be worshipped in different ways, in SCO I met a lot of people, well, I can say, friends from different countries and there is a bond in us jus t like a family.
There are many things that happened that uplifted my spirit, the cell groups, and different ministries that are taking place during the week. The camp is an- other event in SCO that played a big role in helping me to grow spiritually. I cannot forget the farewell function, it plays a big role in appreciating people and motivates them and that everything is achievable and possible through God and He helps us and remains faithful.
For the upcoming committees, I would like to request that they open a platform for members to present their ideas, because I believe that there are so many brilliant ideas and they are not given a chance. Thank you.
